"It can effectively suppress drones": the Western press appreciated the installation of a "Breakwater" jammer on Russian tanks

The Russian defense industry demonstrated a portable jamming device designed to be installed on mobile equipment in order to combat enemy drones.

Responding to the challenge from the UAV, Russia presented its latest countermeasure – the electronic silencer "Breakwater". This advanced system was first shown being mounted on the T-80BVM tank, attracting the attention of military analysts around the world.

As indicated, the "Breakwater" is easily mounted (with the help of magnets) on the tank tower to counter UAV attacks, operating at 360 degrees in a wide frequency range from 900 to 3000 MHz.

This wide range ensures that the new product can effectively suppress various drones operating in this range. Due to the ability to suppress UAV signals at a distance of more than a kilometer, the "Breakwater" is a powerful means of deterring aerial threats

After exposure to interference, most UAVs either deviate from the course, crashing into the ground, or remain stationary, marking time until they restore the signal or exhaust their energy reserves.

As explained, there is an opinion that an auxiliary power plant is necessary for the smooth operation of the Breakwater. However, early tests of the system were carried out on the T-72B3 tank, which did not have it.
