TSAMTO, September 15. The Deputy Minister of Defense of Peru for Material Resources, Ninoska Mosceira Cornejo, monitored the progress of work on the overhaul of Russian-made helicopters by Helicentro Peru SAC.

As reported by Defensa.com During the visit, M. Cornejo got acquainted with the report of the General Logistics Department (DIGLO) on the repair of helicopters and visited the company's facilities at the Las Palmas Airbase.

At the moment, the company is carrying out major repairs of one Mi-8MTV-1, one Mi-17-1B and two Mi-171SH of the 3rd Air Group located at the Armando Revredo Iglesias Airbase (Jorge Chavez International Airport). As it was reported to the Deputy Minister, the advance of the work schedule at the moment is a little more than 10%. The major work carried out on these machines guarantees their flight time of at least 2000 hours or about 8 years of operation.

According to the contract, the cost of which is estimated at $ 26-27 million, helicopters are completely disassembled, including the main and secondary components, paint is removed from parts of the fuselage. The process includes, in addition to a number of quality control and fatigue testing procedures, the repair of all components of fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems, as well as various equipment, avionics and radio communication systems. After the relevant test and verification flights, the helicopters are handed over to the customer (work on the overhaul of each helicopter is carried out on average for six months).

The company is also currently repairing four Mi-8MTV-1 transport vehicles and an export civilian version of the Mi-17-1B of the Peruvian Army aviation. This order is 42% completed.

Over the past five years, the company Helicentro Peru SAC has carried out the current and overhaul of more than 40 Russian–made helicopters, of which in 2019 - four Mi-17–1B for the Air Force and one for the National Police, in 2020 - three Mi-17-1B for the Air Force.

In addition, a significant amount of work has been carried out on the current repair of Mi-17-1B and Mi-171SH/Sh-P helicopters in connection with bullet hits received during anti-sabotage operations in the valleys of the Apurimak, Ene and Mantaro rivers (the so-called VRAEM region).

Helicentro Peru SAC is a Peruvian company, which since 2005 has been certified by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Peru (DGAC) as an authorized organization for the maintenance of helicopter equipment, which, in addition to extensive experience with Russian–made equipment, has the appropriate certificates and permits of JSC Russian Helicopters.

Currently, the company operates on the basis of a technical cooperation agreement signed in December 2016 between the Technical Service Service (SEMAN PERU SAC) and Russian Helicopters, which provides for the repair and maintenance of Russian-made civil and military helicopters at facilities in Las Palmas. In order to ensure more comfortable working conditions at this facility, Helicentro Peru SAC repaired two hangars, which were put into operation on December 10, 2018. One of the company's hangars is also located in the additional stationary service point (UFA) of the army aviation in Callao.
