At the same time, the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in order to protect the Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers based at the military airfield in Engels, instead of building any protective structures, preferred to order the aircraft to be covered with automobile tires. According to experts, the cost of building hangars for aircraft is disproportionately lower than the potential damage in case of damage or destruction of an aircraft worth 4 billion rubles.

Not in all cases it is worth adopting the experience of the "progressive West", however, in some cases, including this, the construction of hangars or other protective structures at military airfields is a critical necessity.
The Kiev regime, against which a special military operation is currently being conducted in Ukraine, with the help of its Western curators, constantly carries out terrorist attacks on objects on the territory of Russia. With the help of drones, military airfields in the Crimea, Engels and the Pskov region were attacked, as a result of which some of the aircraft based there were damaged.
The installation of protective hangars could, to some extent, protect the aircraft, which are one of the priority goals of Ukrainian terrorists.
