During the Army-2023 forum, Spanish military journalists drew attention to the new medical protection of the BMP-1.

As indicated, the "negative experience" of the conflict in Ukraine led to the transformation of armored vehicles. In particular, the BMP-1 received a lattice protection covering the upper hemisphere. As noted, the BMP-1 in the basic version, on the one hand, is difficult to detect due to its very low profile, but, on the other hand, the car gives out "a noisy engine that emits a particularly characteristic black smoke."

According to the author, to protect the BMP-1 from drone attacks and barrage ammunition, a light, almost imperceptible steel grille is placed on the arch-type supports, designed to cover a weak armor protection, which is only 16 mm in the upper part:
In addition to this, armored panels are installed on the sides in the rear of the hull, apparently to protect the wounded placed on the armor.
