Pibot

Pibot is the name of a humanoid robot developed by the staff of the Korean Institute KAIST, capable of piloting a modern jet aircraft. At the same time, it is not necessary to make any changes to the cabin architecture.

The robot 's height is 150 cm . During the flight, Pibot confidently controls on-board instruments and maintains altitude even in difficult weather conditions. In order not to delve into reading flight instructions, the robot simply remembers them using language models. As a result, this allows him to respond to emergencies faster than a full-time pilot. A humanoid robot in the cockpit is essentially an alternative to a remotely controlled UAV. As you know, when a pilot transfers from one type of aircraft to another, he has to thoroughly retrain. In the case of Pibot, it is enough to press a button: the robot pilot will simply switch to the desired mode. As training programs for the robot, researchers use the methodology of working with chatbots, in particular, with ChatGPT. They are currently developing their own LLM model for Pibot. The ultimate goal is to teach him to work in extreme conditions inaccessible to humans. The developers plan to determine Pibot for service in the Air Force by 2026.

Человеческий интерфейс отнюдь не оптимален, но позволяет не модернизировать электронику самолёта. Но стоит ли оно того? Или проще всё же сделать САУ без имитации глаз и рук человека?
