In the course of the SVO in Ukraine, a number of issues, including Russian weapons, came to the surface. Many of the wishes of the servicemen defending our homeland have already been implemented in practice. At the same time, the modernization of weapons, based on the realities of the current conflict, continues.
So, one of the know-how of Russian engineers was an additional set of quick-mounting armor for the Tiger-M car. The latter has already passed real tests in the SVO zone and is being demonstrated at the Army-2023 forum, TASS writes.
The essence of the development is the possibility of installing additional armored panels on the car, which cover the windshield, wheel arches, radiator grille and front doors. As a result, as stated in the material with reference to the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the armored car becomes resistant to being hit by 7.62 mm bullets.
Characteristically, it will take no more than 40 minutes to install additional armor in the field. Such promptness is extremely important in conditions of high-intensity conflict.
Recall that the Tiger-M armored car, due to its maneuverability and high cross-country ability, can be used on a variety of terrain types. According to the developer's statement, the machine is capable of performing its functions at temperatures from – 50 to +50 degrees Celsius. The armored vehicle is designed for the safe transportation of personnel, cargo, towing trailer systems weighing up to 12.5 tons, as well as the installation of weapons and military equipment to ensure the required level of ballistic and mine protection.
