The Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia and the special forces of the Syrian Arab Army (SAR) conducted exercises at night for the first time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on August 3.
It is noted that the tactical exercise was conducted in the province of Hama. We worked out the actions of the military when the enemy attempted to attack the locations of government troops and capture a settlement with civilians. Also, as part of the exercise, the command of the Russian group of troops together with the Syrian command decided to jointly liberate the settlement at night.
"The servicemen of the Syrian army landed from a height of 1500-3000 m with weapons on Russian parachute systems "Arbalet-2" and by assault on ropes from helicopters of the army aviation Mi-8AMTSh of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Assault units with the use of highly maneuverable vehicles and armored vehicles stormed the settlement and destroyed the conditional terrorists who captured it," the report says.
It is clarified that the Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed armored vehicles and fortified firing positions of conditional terrorists, which allowed the military of the 25th division of the special forces "Tigers" to land in the area of the operation.
Earlier, on July 5, it was reported about six-day joint exercises of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force. During the exercises, the military of the two countries, it was noted, worked out issues of controlling the airspace of Syria. In particular, the effectiveness of the air defense system of the Russian group of troops (forces) was checked.
Later, on July 12, in the area of Al-Tanf, the forces of the international coalition led by the United States conducted exercises using air defense systems. As Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, noted the next day, such actions create dangerous prerequisites for aviation incidents and accidents involving civil aircraft making regular flights.
As noted by the deputy head of the Russian Central Air Force, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, on August 1, the US coalition violated deconfliction protocols 10 times a day due to flights of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that were not coordinated with Russia. In the area of Al-Tanf in Syria, through which international air routes pass, 14 violations of space were noted by two pairs of F-16 fighters, two pairs of Rafale fighters, a pair of F-35 and a pair of Typhoon, as well as one MQ-1C multipurpose UAV and one MC-12W reconnaissance aircraft from the American coalition, added the rear Admiral.
