About 100 servicemen and more than 10 units of military and special equipment were involved in the activities according to the combat training plan
KALININGRAD, July 20. /tass/. Combat crews of the launch batteries of the Bal and Bastion missile systems of the Baltic Fleet are involved in exercises on the Kaliningrad coast of the Baltic Sea, where they are solving tasks to counter a conditional enemy, the press service of the fleet reported on Thursday.
"The calculations of the Bal and Bastion missile complexes are working out ways to place equipment in various positions, tasks for deploying complexes, checking the operability of missile systems, as well as loading and unloading weapons of missile complexes, promptly changing the order of battle and location after the conditional use of weapons against the enemy's naval targets," the report says..
About 100 servicemen and more than 10 units of military and special equipment, as well as mobile coastal reconnaissance complexes of the sea and air situation are involved in the activities under the combat training plan, the press service said.
The Bastion coastal missile system protects the coast with a length of more than 600 km. The time from the moment of receiving the order on the march to full deployment in combat positions is five minutes, after which the complex is fully ready for firing. The position of the complex can be 200 km away from the coastline.
The peculiarity of the Bal coastal missile system is its high mobility, rapid change of position and readiness to use missile weapons in a short time. The Bal complex is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 120 km at any time of the day and under the most adverse weather conditions, launchers can be placed in hidden positions at a distance of up to 10 km from the coast.
The crews of the Mi-24 and Mi-8 attack and transport combat helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation carried out practical single and group missile and bomb attacks on targets at the aviation training ground in the Kaliningrad region during the exercises. Up to 10 combat vehicles were involved in air maneuvers.
"During the flights within the framework of the exercise, the helicopter pilots practiced the use of aviation weapons against ground targets at a distance of 500 m to 3 km from minimum and medium altitudes, and also solved the tasks of aerial reconnaissance and fire support of the advancing units of the coastal fleet troops," the fleet's press service said.
It is clarified that during sorties for combat use, helicopter crews carried out single and group strikes on targets on the ground using unguided C-8 aviation missiles and heat-resistant practical P50-T bombs.
"Up to 10 Mi-24 and Mi-8 helicopters were involved in the combat training event, which worked out the practical use of aviation weapons," the press service said.
The Mi-24 attack helicopter was created by the Moscow Helicopter Plant named after M. L. Mil and is one of the most famous helicopters of this class. Designed to solve a wide range of tasks in the preparation and conduct of combat operations. The helicopter is capable of destroying armored and unarmored, small-sized and areal ground and surface, low-speed and low-flying enemy air targets, as well as its manpower at the forefront and in tactical depth, to accompany troops during the march and actions in the depth of enemy defense. In addition, Mi-24 helicopters can be used for reconnaissance and surveillance, mining, fire correction and other tasks.
Mi-8 helicopters are one of the most successful developments of the Russian helicopter school. The helicopter can be used for fire support, suppression of firing points, delivery of troops, transportation of ammunition, weapons, cargo, food, medicines, evacuation of the wounded and dead.
