INTERFAX - Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday, while working in the Central Military District, checked the fulfillment of the state defense order at enterprises located in the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
Shoigu, together with the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, visited Remdiesel JSC, which is carrying out major repairs and modernization, installation and installation of weapons and military equipment, as well as the KAMAZ automobile plant, which produces trucks.
At the Remdiesel, the Minister inspected various models of armored vehicles, in particular, KAMAZ trucks with an armored cabin, a special medical vehicle "Lens", as well as a line for the modernization of multi-purpose armored personnel carriers MTLB.
"Now everything is on schedule, something ahead of schedule. If there is an opportunity, we need to increase the pace," Shoigu said during a visit to Remdiesel.
"We looked at the production. I would like to thank KAMAZ and those who work here in Naberezhnye Chelny - you work quite efficiently, energetically," Shoigu said at a meeting at KAMAZ.
"In many ways, we are ahead of the schedule for the fulfillment of the task of the state defense order this year," the minister said after visiting the KAMAZ workshops. "There is a need for these vehicles, there is a need for repairs, there is a need for maintenance," Shoigu said, noting the role of special military vehicles in its military.
KAMAZ, in particular, produces trucks with increased armor protection for the Russian army.
At the meeting, Shoigu instructed the main armored vehicle department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to consider the formation of a working group with KAMAZ to assist in the maintenance of vehicles in the SVO zone.
Shoigu also stated at the meeting about the interest of the Ministry of Defense in the modernization of the fleet of armored personnel carriers MTLB.
"We need to make a more modern car. We are now engaged in the fact that we are actively restoring the old park from Soviet times, we are doing it efficiently and quickly," the minister said.
Minnikhanov thanked Shoigu for coming to Tatarstan, promised that the enterprises of the defense industry of the republic will fulfill the state defense order. The head of Tatarstan called it "the most important state task".
In the capital of Tatarstan, Shoigu and Minnikhanov visited the Kazan Helicopter Plant, where they were informed about the production of light Ansat helicopters and various modifications of the Mi-8 military transport helicopter.
In addition, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Head of Tatarstan visited JSC "Kazan Optical and Mechanical Plant". This company produces day observation optics, night vision devices, multifunctional laser rangefinders and thermal imaging reconnaissance devices.
The Minister was presented with samples coming to the troops under the state defense order, as well as promising developments. Shoigu was also shown an upgraded Mi-24 helicopter with an increased range of detection and identification of targets, increased accuracy characteristics of the use of weapons of destruction.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Minister inspected the S.Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant, which produces Tu-160 strategic missile carriers, repairs them, as well as upgrades of Tu-22M3 long-range bombers.
