Construction for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia of the border patrol ship of the 4th rank (PSKR; and in fact patrol boats) of project 03050 (code "Guys") was started at JSC "Vimpel Shipyard" in Rybinsk in 2016. These units of the SSZ "Vimpel" are also designated as the modernized project 1496M1 (cipher "Manatee") in the "marine version", or as project 1496M1E.
To date, the Vimpel plant has built and handed over in 2018-2020 for the Coast Guard of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia five PKRS of this type - "Eagle", "Kite", "Gyrfalcon", "Vulture" and "Buzzard" (factory numbers 01408, and from 01410 to 01413), which are on the Black the sea.
The laying ceremony of the sixth Puffer "Petrel" of this type with the factory number 1414 took place at the Vimpel SSZ on December 18, 2020, now it has been launched and will be put into operation this year. It is known that now the seventh PSCR of this type with the factory number 01416 is also being built at the Vimpel SSR.
Since 2020, construction for the Coast Guard of the Border Guard Service of the FSB of Russia of the PSKR of the 4th rank of Project 03050 has also been started at PJSC Yaroslavl Shipbuilding Plant, where the first two units of this type (factory numbers 751 and 752) were laid on October 29, 2020, which were launched in May 2022. The head of them is called the "Hawk" and began factory sea trials on August 13, 2022, but so far both of them have not been commissioned. In 2022, the construction of two more units of this type (factory numbers 753 and 754) was started in Yaroslavl.
This project 03050 (code "Guys"), aka the upgraded project 1496M1 (code "Manatee") is actually almost completely new in relation to the border patrol boats of the previous projects 1496M and 1496M1, built for the FSB Border Service since 2004. The new project was carried out by the advanced shipbuilding Department of JSC "SSZ "Vimpel" together with the Central Research Institute of the Navy (TSNIIMF), taking into account the wishes of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia to improve technical characteristics and habitability. A wide range of possibilities for performing patrol functions in the coastal zone is provided due to effective armament, economy, availability of modern equipment, navigation and communications.
