The Turkish company ASELSAN has revealed the characteristics of a new product YILDIRIM-100 of the DIRCM type – a "directional infrared (IR) counteraction system" designed to protect air platforms from IR-guided missiles.
The YILDIRIM-100 will have a configuration of two turrets, each of which will contain an accurate tracking unit and generate a powerful laser beam designed to neutralize heat-guided missiles. The system will also include a DIRCM control unit and a communication support unit with a missile attack warning system.
It is expected that the YILDIRIM-100 will be used in helicopters and on other aerial platforms. In parallel, ASELSAN announced the development of an improved version of the YILDIRIM-300 for the first national KAAN fighter.
- it is noted in the publication SavunmaSanayiST, indicating, apparently, the technological immaturity of DIRCM on American F-35 aircraft.

Products of the DIRCM type generate and send high-power laser energy to an approaching rocket with infrared or ultraviolet guidance. The laser energy blinds the rocket's GOS and forces it to move away from the protected platform. An optoelectronic suppression station 101 KS-O is installed on the Su-57.
