/tass/. Warships of the Pacific Fleet during a sudden combat readiness check conducted an anti-submarine exercise in the Sea of Japan, as well as artillery firing at sea and air targets, a TASS correspondent reports.
Early in the morning, the ships left their permanent bases and, moving in a marching order, arrived at the designated area of the landfill in the Sea of Japan. The ships conducted tactical maneuvering as part of different formations and provided all types of defense and protection of a detachment of ships at sea crossing. The large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Panteleev" and the frigate "Marshal Shaposhnikov" fired from 100-millimeter artillery installations AK-100 and A-190, as well as from 30-millimeter rapid-firing AK-630 at sea and air targets simulating the targets of a conditional enemy at a naval training ground previously closed to civilian shipping.
After that, the crews of the ships were involved in the search and destruction of the submarine of a conditional enemy. To do this, Ka-27PL helicopters with lowered sonar stations were lifted from the ships. Also, long-range anti-submarine Tu-142M3 aircraft arrived in the area of the exercise. According to the detected "enemy" submarine at the coordinates indicated by the pilots, a large anti-submarine ship fired a volley of jet depth charges.
In addition, the ships, according to the plan of the exercise, detected an anti-ship missile and conducted passive interference to counteract it. Also, Marshal Shaposhnikov and Admiral Panteleev launched anti-aircraft missiles of the Dagger air defense system at a conditional air target. After that, a floating mine was discovered that threatened civilian shipping, it was destroyed with the use of naval artillery systems.
As the commander of the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, Sergei Merkulov, told reporters, all tasks were completed, and the command gave the crew an excellent rating. For his team, the sudden check did not cause difficulties, because the ship has been going to sea for training almost every week since January 2023.
By the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a surprise inspection of the Pacific Fleet forces, which has been alerted in full, has been carried out since April 14. Long-range aviation, aviation of the Eastern Military District, units and support units were involved in the inspection.
