In Germany, they do not know how to protect government aircraft made of composite materials

In the global aircraft industry, machines with composite materials actively used in their construction are becoming more and more widespread. At the same time, Europe does not know how to provide them with missile defense.

Against this background, a political scandal broke out in Germany, caused by the fact that the German Chancellor and other top officials of the country, as it turned out, were flying on a government A350 aircraft not equipped with defensive systems.

The self-defense system for the A350 is currently not available on the market and will require significant development costs and time

- stated in the command of the country's Air Force.

As noted in the German edition of Aero Telegraph, there are currently no ready-made technical solutions to equip government aircraft with self-defense:

The fuselage of the aircraft, like that of the Boeing 787, largely consists of composite materials. For older models with aluminum fuselage, such as the Boeing 747 or Airbus A340, there are protection systems and extensive experience in their installation. Modernization of the composite fuselage is a technically new and different task.

To solve it, it is required to conduct design studies that require time and additional funding, but they have not yet started.
