Rostec: the complex of active protection of the Arena-M tank was tested with captured ATGMsMOSCOW, Apr 5 – RIA Novosti.
The modernized Russian active protection complex (KAZ) "Arena-M" was tested as part of the T-72 tank with foreign anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs), RIA Novosti was informed in the holding "High-Precision Complexes" (part of Rostec).
"The tests of the complex were carried out according to an expanded program: not only on the planned targets, which were Russian-made ammunition, but also on foreign, captured ones, which Russia began to have. KAZ has confirmed its effectiveness," the holding said.
As it was repeatedly reported earlier, Russian units within the framework of a special military operation in Ukraine have captured foreign anti-tank missile systems and anti-tank grenade launchers many times, such as the Ukrainian Stugna, Javelin manufactured by the United States, British NLAW, Swedish AT-4 and many others.
The Arena-M complex was developed by the Engineering Design Bureau (part of the High-Precision Complexes). The "Arena" includes a radar station (radar) with high noise immunity, an onboard computer and special ammunition installed in mines around the perimeter of the tank tower. The radar detects a projectile, an anti-tank missile or an enemy grenade aimed at a tank, calculates their trajectory and fires a protective munition that destroys the target in flight with a beam of damaging elements.
