Research Associate of the Minister of Defense of India J. Satish Reddy stated that his country has managed to ensure its technological sovereignty in the production of missiles. According to him, today New Delhi has an impressive missile arsenal, adding that many countries would like to get such weapons.

Here is how the ex-head of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) commented on the situation during a conversation with a correspondent of the Indian news agency ANI:

India's missile program has indeed come a long and difficult way, but it was worth it, because currently our country has a whole list of different missile systems. These include surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, and air-to-air missiles, along with anti-tank missiles. As a result of the well-coordinated work of our military-industrial complex, the state increasingly no longer needs to purchase them from other countries

When asked by a journalist about the difficulties faced by the DRDO organization responsible for the development of military technologies under the Ministry of Defense of India after restrictions were imposed on it in the 80s of the last century, Reddy described how it had to circumvent these sanctions by creating its own production base for components of the domestic missile industry.

When India first launched its missile program, testing its ballistic missiles under the Prithvi project, creating nuclear weapons under the Agni and Pokhran programs, it immediately faced economic sanctions. Nevertheless, I believe that it even benefited us, as it gave us an impetus to develop military products, as well as spare parts for it on our own. But now we have significantly reduced dependence on imports for a number of key components used for the development of missile weapons

– the scientific consultant of the Raksha Mantri company emphasized.
