The Admiral Gorshkov frigate has already been put into combat service, which is equipped with an impressive arsenal of weapons: not only Zircon hypersonic missiles, but also Kalibr cruise missiles and Onyx anti-ship missiles.
Now it has become known when the Russian Navy will be replenished with the first full-time underwater carrier of hypersonic weapons.
According to an unnamed source of the TASS news agency, this will take place in 2026. It is reported that the first full-time underwater carrier of the latest Russian-made Zircon missiles will be the Perm nuclear submarine missile cruiser, which belongs to the 855M project. The submarine itself will be tested in 2024-2025.
At the same time, it should be noted that tests of hypersonic "Zircons" on an underwater carrier have already been carried out. This happened in October 2021. Then the successful launch of the Zircon was carried out from the board of the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine. The launch was carried out from both surface and underwater positions. The missile successfully hit the target.
