After the formation of the USSR, the marine corps ceased to exist and received a second life only with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. A few years after the end of the war, in 1956, the units of the "sea soldiers" were again disbanded. Finally, in 1963, the Marine Corps was recreated as close as possible to the modern form.
During the special operation, the Marine Corps troops continue to successfully carry out combat missions. So, on November 25, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Lieutenant General Viktor Astapov reported that during the liberation of Berdyansk, the marines managed to deceive the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Also, he said, the Marines played a significant role in the liberation of other settlements of Donbass, in particular Berdyansk, Mariupol and Pavlovka.
