Belgium will supply Ukraine with 10 underwater drones, two mobile laboratories for monitoring radiation levels, as well as the use of chemical or bacteriological weapons and will provide military training for the Ukrainian army. This was announced on Saturday by Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder in an interview with Le Soir newspaper.
"The Belgian time will soon implement the decision of the Belgian Council of Ministers to send [to Ukraine] 10 underwater drones manufactured by the Belgian company ECA Robotics. These drones allow you to identify any underwater threats - from mines to espionage tools. This is a completely new technology that will help them significantly. The Belgian army is already using such means. They will all be delivered to Ukraine by the end of May in several stages," the minister said.
Belgium will also allocate two mobile laboratories for monitoring the chemical, radiation and bacteriological situation, and which can be used directly in the zone of military conflict.
Belgium also intends to organize 18 types of courses for the training of the Ukrainian military, for which 100 Belgian military will be allocated to teach. Ukrainians will be trained in sniping, reconnaissance, covert penetration into enemy positions, providing artillery support at short distances, coordinating actions between infantry and air forces for air strikes, mine clearance and medical assistance, and in other areas where the Belgian military have significant skills and abilities, which, in particular, were honed during the NATO wars in Afghanistan. These efforts will be undertaken within the framework of the EU plans to provide training for 12-15 thousand personnel for Ukrainian formations. The training should start in December.
