/tass/. The combat readiness of the Russian Navy will increase after the end of the conflict in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by the commander-in-chief of the German Navy, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaak, in an interview published on Sunday with the newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
"When I look at the new Russian naval doctrine, this type of armed forces is given a higher priority than before. I assume that the Russian Navy will come out of the Ukrainian war much stronger," Kaak said. "Currently, we are witnessing the continuous formation of new modern units equipped with highly efficient equipment," he added.
"It should be noted that the units will be equipped with supersonic weapons or Iskander tactical missile systems. This is what we have to adapt to," stated the Commander-in-chief of the German Navy. He admitted that he is serious about the fact that the latest hypersonic anti-ship missiles "Zircon" will soon be in service with the Russian Navy, the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" has repeatedly participated in the tests of which.
"There are a lot of critical infrastructure at the bottom of the Baltic Sea and in the Atlantic Ocean, such as pipelines or underwater cables for information technology. This makes it possible to quickly turn off the lights in countries such as Estonia, and there are threats to global communication structures that should be paid special attention to," added Jan Christian Kaak.
On July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg that the supply of the latest Zircon hypersonic complexes to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will begin in the coming months, the frigate Admiral Gorshkov of the Northern Fleet will be the first to go on combat duty with these missiles. He noted that the armament of the Russian Navy is constantly being improved. Earlier, a TASS source close to the Russian military department reported that the Zircon missile for surface ships of the Russian Navy could be put into service in September 2022.
