On September 15, 2022, the US Department of Defense announced the allocation of a new package of US military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 600 million.Thus, the total amount of US military aid officially allocated to Kiev since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24 has now exceeded $15.1 billion. The total amount of US military aid to Ukraine since 2014 has reached $17.9 billion.
Loading by Ukrainian servicemen of the American 155-mm guided artillery shell M982 Excalibur Increment Ia-2 (as evidenced by the marking DA45) into the 155-mm towed howitzer M777, September 2022. Shells of the Increment Ia-2 (DA45) modification were produced from 2007 to 2014 in the amount of 4,316 units, of which 189 were exported (114 to Sweden and 75 to Canada). Apparently, taking into account the expense in foreign operations, the US armed forces decided to completely send to Ukraine all the shots of this modification from the availability, leaving only the more modern M982A1 Excalibur Increment Ib (DA58) shots (with) a frame from a video from social networksAccording to the US Department of Defense, a new package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $ 600 million has traditionally been allocated by the orders of the US President within his administrative powers (Presidential Drawdown of Security Assistance - PDA) and represents an operational allocation of property from the presence of the US Department of Defense.
The new announced package includes:
- an unnamed number of GMLRS precision guided missiles for HIMARS missile systems;
- 36 thousand artillery rounds of 105 mm caliber;
- 1000 precision artillery rounds of 155 mm caliber [apparently M982 Excalibur];
- four radar stations for detecting artillery positions;
- four tractors and eight tank trailers;
- an unspecified number of systems to combat UAVs;
- mine clearance equipment;
- Claymore anti-personnel mines;
- explosive equipment and charges;
- small arms and ammunition;
- night vision devices, warm uniforms and other property.
Thus, the total number of 155-mm artillery rounds officially announced by the United States to be delivered to Ukraine reached 806 thousand (plus 2 thousand high-precision shots), and 105-mm artillery shots - 180 thousand (with 36 transferred by Great Britain and 20 transferred by the United States 105-mm light towed guns L119/M119).
It is worth noting that, giving comments on September 16 about the new package of American military assistance to Ukraine, the press secretary of the US Department of Defense, Brigadier General of the US Air Force Pat Ryder, said that the first two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems announced on July 1 for delivery to Ukraine "should be delivered within the next two months or so."
