The captain noted that the platform during the first voyage was accompanied by the Baltic Fleet patrol ship Yaroslav the Wise. On Wednesday, the LSP arrived in Murmansk after leaving St. Petersburg on September 2.
The world's first ice-resistant self-propelled platform "North Pole" is designed for year-round expeditions in the northern latitudes of the Arctic Ocean, it is capable of arriving at the work site without the involvement of an icebreaker, drifting in the water area for up to two years and returning back to the port. The platform can take on board Mi-8AMT (Mi-171) aircraft and provide comfortable and safe operation at a temperature of minus 50 degrees and at a humidity of 85%. The speed of the "North Pole" is at least 10 knots. The vessel is designed for 14 crew members and 34 scientific personnel.
