The first small rocket ship of the project 22800 "Karakurt", armed with a naval version of the anti-aircraft missile and gun complex "Pantsir-M", called "Cyclone" will be handed over to the Russian Navy by the end of 2022, Director General of the shipbuilding corporation "Ak Bars" Renat Mistakhov told RIA Novosti.
Previously, the ships of the project 22800 were armed with an AK-630 type anti-aircraft artillery system.
He recalled that Zelenodolsk shipbuilders were the first to arm the ship with Uran missiles - it was a corvette of the 11661 Tatarstan project. For the first time, the Kalibr missile system was delivered to the second ship of this project, Dagestan.
"Now the first ship with the Pantsir missile defense system will appear in the Russian Navy," said the general director of Ak Bars.
In total, the corporation must fulfill an order for the construction of five ships of project 22800. "Cyclone" is the fourth in the series.
