The ships of the Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Levchenko" and "Alexander Otrakovsky" together with the tactical group stationed on Kotelny Island of the archipelago of the Novosibirsk Islands in the Laptev Sea have worked out combat training tasks for defense in the Arctic, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.
"The crews of the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Levchenko and the large amphibious ship Alexander Otrakovsky from the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet, together with the personnel of the tactical group stationed on Kotelny Island, worked out the tasks of the exercise on conducting defensive actions in the Arctic," the message says.
During the exercises, the North Sea sailors practiced unloading military equipment on the island's unequipped seashore, preparing for firing at sea targets with Bastion coastal missile systems, as well as tactical actions of ships to protect sea communications in the Arctic.
According to the press service, the ships of the Arctic grouping of the Northern Fleet are replenishing supplies in Temp Bay near Kotelny Island in the Laptev Sea, after which the Admiral Levchenko BOD, Alexander Otrakovsky BDK and the large sea tanker Sergei Osipov will continue to operate on the Northern Sea Route.
The Arctic campaign of the surface forces of the Northern Fleet began on August 10 with the departure from the main base of the fleet - Severomorsk. During the Arctic campaign, the ships and support vessels of the SF have already passed about 6 thousand nautical miles. As part of the Arctic fleet grouping in the seas of the Arctic Ocean, the Admiral Levchenko BOD, the Alexander Otrakovsky BDK, the Sergey Osipov BMTN and the Pamir rescue tug operate.
