The Army-2022 Forum: Collective Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence On August 21, the International Military-Technical Forum "Army-2022" completed its work.
Once again, the forecasts of our so-called Western partners about the isolation of Russia have been put to shame. Tens of thousands of specialists, experts, members of foreign delegations, ordinary citizens attended the events of the forum. The Forum has become a new breakthrough for Russia in military and military-technical activities.
The preliminary results of the six-day work and the scientific and business program of the MVTF "Army-2022" were summed up at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center.
Chairman of the Military Scientific Committee of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Vasily Trushin opened the final meeting of the program committee of the forum. The head of the Main Department of Innovative Development of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Alexander Osadchuk, Adviser to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrey Ilnitsky, Executive Director of JSC "International Congresses and Exhibitions" Artur Bayramov were seen at the presidium.
The extensive scientific and business program of the forum included 340 events, which is one and a half times more than last year. In just six days, 187 round tables, 52 conferences, 32 interdepartmental meetings and 69 briefings were held. The program provided for consideration of topical issues in the following areas: medicine, robotics, domestic electronic component base, computer science and computer engineering. The participants discussed promising areas of research in the field of nanotechnology and nanomaterials. At the same time, artificial intelligence technologies and the diversification of the military-industrial complex have become the dominant topics.
A unique feature of the Army-2022 MVTF was the simultaneous holding of several major international events at its venues at once: the Army International Games, the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security, the 1st International Anti-Fascist Congress and the 3rd International Fire and Rescue Congress organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
The plenary session was held under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and with the participation of Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko.
One of the main events of the forum was the congress "Artificial Intelligence Technologies, scientific and Technological development and Strategic Leadership". Its plenary session was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The Congress combined a complex of scientific and business events with speeches and presentations by leading scientists with significant achievements in the field of digital technologies.
Within the framework of the congress, 22 events were held, in which more than 2.5 thousand people took part, including 286 speakers, 97 doctors and 415 candidates of sciences.
This year, the scientific and business program of the forum was supplemented by the events of the military innovative technopolis "ERA": more than 20 scientific and business talks, round tables, reports of operators of scientific companies with the presentation of scientific projects - winners of the competition for the selection of exhibits at the Army-2022 MVTF. The events were held at the central site of the military innograd – in a Discussion Club, with the involvement of eminent scientists and representatives of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC) of Russia.
Traditionally, the Army forum allows the expert community to identify priority areas of interdepartmental cooperation in the field of state defense, the development of the defense industry, and the military-technical sphere. Subsequently, the conclusions of the forum are widely used in the creation of promising complexes and systems for military purposes.
Round tables, conferences and briefings were held at a high methodological level with the participation of well-known public figures, military experts, general designers and leading scientists.
This year, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, as well as new solutions in the field of diversification of the Russian defense industry, have become dominant on the agenda of business events at the main integration platform for the Russian Defense Ministry, defense industry enterprises and the commercial sector. The moderators managed to gather representatives of state authorities, scientific and business circles, higher education and the Russian Academy of Sciences, engineers, specialists and experts in the field of defense, as well as representatives of 80 foreign countries on one platform.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was presented with promising samples of weapons and military equipment. In particular, they showed the latest system with AI technologies installed on a drone to overcome enemy air defense systems.
"Developing military technologies, we are also considering the issue of countering them. A new development with AI technologies is presented here, which will allow deceiving the trained neural networks of the enemy of air defense systems," Colonel Vasily Elistratov, head of the AI Technology Development Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, reported to the head of the military department. Sergei Shoigu noted that he was already familiar with this development, and asked at what stage the project is at and what are the prospects for its scaling up for use in the existing units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Minister of Defense was also presented with a range of remotely controlled combat modules. Among them are "Kurganets-BM", "Typhoon-Airborne-BM" and "Boomerang-Petrel". As well as the Epoch module for the T-14 Armada tank with a 125 mm cannon and a remote machine gun, which provide the use of advanced ammunition of increased power.
The head of the 21st department of the FSBI "38th Research Institute of Armored Weapons and Equipment" of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Degtyarev, also reported to the Minister about the remotely controlled combat module "Dagger" equipped with supersonic guided anti-tank missiles "Attack", which reduce the time to defeat armored targets by almost two times.
