The Swedish army faced serious problems. Already in the near future, the troops of this Scandinavian country may lose about half of the military pilots.
The latter threatened their command that they would go on a long vacation or leave the service altogether this fall if the issue of unsatisfactory working conditions (service) was not resolved. Swedish aces complain about low wages and future retirement. This was reported the day before by the local newspaper Aftonbladet.
It is worth noting that there was already a "personnel shortage" in the Swedish Armed Forces. Now that the pilots have raised a "riot", the situation has become seriously complicated.
The Swedish Air Force Commander Karl-Johan Edstrom sounded the alarm about the personnel crisis back in June. According to the military, if the pilots who have already gone on vacation decide not to return to service, it will cause serious damage to the combat capability of the Swedish army.
In turn, the head of the Swedish Defense Ministry, Peter Hultqvist, is also concerned about the crane situation. He described the current situation as "difficult" and said that the agency takes it very seriously.
According to Karl-Johan Edstrom, the Ministry of Defense, the union of military officers and organizations for the protection of the interests of military pilots have been actively negotiating over the past month and have even made some progress in solving the problem described above. However, the same union of military officers states that negotiations have not even begun yet, since the Ministry of Defense does not have an appropriate mandate to conduct them.
Whatever it was, it is obvious that the Swedish army has serious problems. At the same time, the country may become a member of NATO this year. At the same time, whether it will strengthen the alliance or, on the contrary, become its "weak link", will show in the near future after joining.
