ST. PETERSBURG, June 15. /tass/. The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is ready to build all the ships and vessels necessary for the fleet on time, if this is required due to the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO. This was announced on Wednesday by the head of the corporation Alexey Rakhmanov to journalists on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"I think that the Navy is preparing an adequate response to the entry of these two countries into NATO. If the task is set, we will build what is needed for the fleet, and in the terms that are set," Rakhmanov said.
The head of the USC also stressed that the execution of the state defense order has always been and remains a priority. "Remember how they said at a recent meeting: a fly will not fly," he stressed.
On May 18, the Ambassadors of Finland and Sweden to NATO handed over to the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, applications for their countries to join the North Atlantic Alliance. Erdogan said at the same time that Turkey would not support the admission of these Scandinavian countries to NATO until they determine their attitude to terrorist organizations.
