Tank
The British Ministry of Defense is exploring the possibility of using a quantum computer to control a tank — in other words, the British military wants to make it "smart".
To this end, the military department acquired a quantum computer produced by the startup Orca. According to its CEO Richard Murray, the military was attracted (in addition to good technical characteristics) by the compact size of the computer and its ability to work in normal room temperature conditions, which is very important when installing it in a tank.
However, the main problem of the authors of the idea is to find out what functions a quantum tank computer will perform on the battlefield. So far, one thing is known — in normal conditions, such computers solve specific mathematical problems much faster.
According to R. Murray, his company aims to use this technology to simplify the interaction of combat vehicles during a battle, using image recognition and sensor control applications. However, so far everything is limited to general ideas and assumptions. Time will tell whether British tanks will become "smarter" in combat conditions as a result.
