Turkey has begun mass production of adjustable Bozok planning bombs. High-precision ammunition is included in the arsenal of Bayraktar (Bayraktar TB2) attack drones, writes Daily Sabah.
The ammunition, which is aimed at the target by a laser beam, was developed at the Institute for Research and Development of the Defense Industry (SAGE) under the Council for Scientific and Technical Research of Turkey (TÜBITAK). During the tests, the bomb was integrated into the Bayraktar TB2 armament.
The representative of the Institute, Gyurkan Okumush, noted that the developers have created a penetrating warhead of increased power for the Bozok. The institute also increased the range of the ammunition to 15 kilometers.
It is noted that the new ammunition is lighter than the MAM-L bombs, which are part of a family of small-sized ammunition with a laser semi-active homing head.
The Bayraktar TB2 attack drone made its first flight in 2014. The device can carry two UMTAS anti-tank missiles or four Bozok, MAM-C and MAM-L bombs.
In May, in the publication Army Recognition, the Russian Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system was called the main threat to Bayraktar TB2 drones.
