SEVEROMORSK, June 1. /tass/. In the Arctic, in the area of responsibility of the Northern Fleet (SF), two airfields will be built and seven airfields will be reconstructed by 2030, the commander of the SF, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, said on Wednesday.
"The development and construction of the airfield network of the Arctic zone continues. The plan for the development of the airfield network of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 provides for the construction of two [airfields] (Nagurskoye, Temp), the reconstruction of seven airfields (Severomorsk-1, Severomorsk-2, Severomorsk-3, Rogachevo, Talagi, Kipelovo), including one hydro aerodrome (Safonovo)," he said.
According to Moiseev, the construction of the Nagurskoye and Temp airfields will allow receiving all types of long-range, transport and naval aircraft, which will also help in the delivery of weapons and cargo for various purposes to the islands of the Arctic archipelagos.
