The large anti-submarine ship (BOD) of the Northern Fleet "Admiral Levchenko" worked out the defeat of air and surface targets of a conditional enemy during exercises in the Barents Sea. The crew used the anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) "Dagger" and artillery. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the fleet.
"The Admiral Levchenko BOD destroyed an enemy aircraft and cruise missiles during exercises in the Barents Sea. During the exercises, the firing of the Dagger anti—aircraft missile system, a universal caliber battery and rapid-firing anti-aircraft artillery was actually practiced," the report says.
It is noted that the ship's gunners also hit surface targets that imitated the speedboats of a conditional enemy, and practiced firing at a detected sea mine. After working out the tasks of combat training at sea, the crew arrived in Severomorsk.
The Admiral Levchenko BOD of Project 1155 was launched in 1985, and in 1989 the ship was included in the fleet. The BOD received two Dagger air defense systems and four AK-630 artillery installations, which provide protection from air attack. Also, the arsenal of the BOD includes anti-submarine rocket torpedoes and artillery installations of 100 mm caliber.
Earlier, the press service of the fleet reported that the Admiral Levchenko BOD went to the Barents Sea to conduct live firing and practice anti-submarine tasks.
