Moscow. May 21. INTERFAX - The Russian military reported on the use of robots to mine the areas of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) taken under control.
"In particularly dangerous areas, the Uran-6 robotic mine clearance systems are widely used to destroy pressure mines," the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said in a statement.
The military said that during mine clearance in the LPR, "special attention is paid to roads, territories adjacent to important life support facilities of the republic, as well as agricultural lands."
"During the work, sappers detect and neutralize anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, land mines. All detected explosive devices are destroyed on the spot with the use of overhead charges," the report says.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on May 20 that control over the Donbass is expanding, the territory of the LPR will soon be taken under control.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. On February 24, Putin announced the start of a special military operation in Ukraine.
