In addition to the classic tasks for submarines of attacking enemy surface ships and submarines, the Russian new-generation Yasen-M submarines are capable of delivering powerful strikes against land targets. Moreover, the flight range of Kalibr cruise missiles allows you to do this without entering the territorial waters of the enemy, writes 19fortyfive.
"Ash-M" tops the rating of underwater threats at the headquarters of the US Navy. The multi-purpose, low-profile submarine is well armed and equipped to perform a wide range of tasks: from protecting its own strategic submarines with ballistic missiles and hunting enemy submarines to launching missile strikes against aircraft carrier groups and important targets ashore.
By the way, Yasenu missiles may not be needed to attack aircraft carriers. A hull made of low-magnetic steel, an absorbing coating on it and a low-noise reactor hide a 130-meter submarine from the enemy, and a volley of ten torpedo tubes can, if not sink, then permanently disable even the largest ship. After the attack, the submarine quickly develops a maximum speed of 35 knots and dives 500 meters, avoiding a retaliatory strike.
If it is necessary to strike with missiles, "Ash" is capable of this. The submarine is equipped with launchers for 72 cruise missiles of various types: long-range "Calibers", supersonic "Onyx" and elusive for air defense "Zircons". And if the latter two are designed mainly to combat ships: surface and underwater, then the Caliber, due to its long flight range, can also hit targets on land (as has been demonstrated more than once).
In addition, when using "Calibers", the submarine will not even have to enter the territorial waters of the enemy, and some Ash countries can fire directly from the wall of their base.
