On May 6, the Ministry of Defense of Russia showed footage of combat work of 152 mm self-propelled artillery units (ACS) "Msta-S" during a special operation to protect civilians of Donbass.
Artillery units of the Armed Forces of Russia (Armed Forces of the Russian Federation) during a special operation destroy fortifications, armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. So, Artyom, the commander of the Msta-S ACS, told about his combat work.
"The most important task is being fulfilled — it is a reflection of the enemy's attack. That is, we work directly on infantry, on artillery, we always hit accurately, we always hit accurately, we work quickly. We detect the enemy pretty quickly, even though he started working more brazenly. This is all only temporary. That is, as soon as he shows up, we immediately detect and give an answer," said Artem.
The mechanic-driver of "Msta-S" Maxim noted, in turn, that the car proved to be very good.
"The car is new, 2019, it has proven itself very well. When they open fire on us, we have seconds to get away from the shelling. And in this regard, the car has proven itself very well. Its patency is the same as that of a tank. A good car, in general," he said.
A day earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed how the tanks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation T-72B3 are firing at enemy positions in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR). The ministry noted that these tanks are capable of suppressing the most fortified areas of the enemy's fortified areas, as well as his equipment and manpower. Tankers conduct continuous fire action, thereby ensuring the advance of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the People's Militia forward.
On April 29, the ministry told about the work of the crews of Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopters and Mi-8AMTSh transport and assault helicopters. During the special operation, the army aviation performs the tasks of escorting convoys, delivering troops and military cargo, aviation support for units, as well as destroying armored vehicles and military infrastructure facilities of Ukraine. At the same time, flights take place at extremely low altitudes.
On February 24, Russia announced the start of a special operation to protect Donbass. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation pursues two goals — demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
The operation began against the background of the situation in Donbass that escalated in mid-February. The authorities of the DPR and LPR reported increased shelling by Ukrainian troops, announced the evacuation of civilians to the Russian Federation and asked for recognition of independence. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree.
