The units of the People's militia of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics captured a large amount of enemy military equipment during the battles with Ukrainian armed formations.
These are T-80BV, T-64BV tanks, including upgraded ones, known as 2017 models, which received thermal imagers, new communication and navigation systems, dynamic Knife protection.
The trophies were all kinds of armored vehicles and armored personnel carriers of both Ukrainian and foreign production, for example, "Cossack-2", American Humvee of various versions, British AT-105 Saxon, BRDM-2 in reconnaissance and anti-tank variants, as well as BTR-3, BTR-4 and BTR-80.
Abandoned infantry fighting vehicles of the first and second generation were found, as well as 122-mm and 152-mm self-propelled artillery 2S1 "Carnation" and 2S3 "Acacia".
Some of this equipment is in good condition and often, after applying identification marks in the form of the letter Z, it is almost immediately sent into battle. The other part, which has some damage and malfunctions, is undergoing restoration repairs, like these two captured in the photos of the BMP-1.
The people who are engaged in the return to service of former enemy equipment are real professionals. They often not only repair, but also improve the capabilities of combat vehicles. For example, tanks, armored personnel carriers, IFVs increase their resistance to various ammunition, they are equipped with additional dynamic protection, anti-cumulative lattice screens, as well as additional weapons, as it was with the BTR-80, which received the opportunity to use anti-tank guided missiles "Competition".
