MOSCOW, Apr 14 - RIA Novosti. Two submarines of the Pacific Fleet fired Kalibr missiles in the Sea of Japan and hit a target simulating a surface ship of a simulated enemy, the information support department of the Pacific Fleet reported on Thursday.
It is noted that the submarines overcame the conditional anti-submarine line created by the forces of the "enemy", went to a given area, and from there launched a missile attack on the target position.
"Cruise missiles have successfully hit a target – a special sea shield simulating a surface ship of a conditional enemy," the TOPH reported.
More than 15 warships and auxiliary vessels took part in the exercise, as well as aircraft of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Volkhov are the first two of a series of six such submarines of Project 636.3 for the Pacific Fleet. There is also a similar Magadan submarine in the fleet. The fourth is Ufa, recently launched, and the fifth and sixth Mozhaysk and Yakutsk are under construction.
The submarines of this project belong to the third generation, have a displacement of 3.95 thousand tons, an underwater speed of 18 knots, a diving depth of 300 meters, a crew of 52 people, an autonomous navigation of 45 days, an economical diving range of 400 miles. They are equipped with the latest inertial navigation system, modern automated information and control system, high-precision missile weapons, powerful torpedo armament.
The submarines are armed with torpedoes of 533 mm caliber (six vehicles), mines, and the Kalibr strike missile system. They can detect a target at a distance three to four times greater than that at which they can be detected by the enemy. For their secrecy, these submarines received the name "black hole" in NATO.
