The Russian military seized a British-made AT105 Saxon armored personnel carrier (APC) in the Kharkiv region. This is reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to Telegram channel "Military officers of the Russian Spring".
In 2014, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine purchased 75 British vehicles. In 2015, the first batch of armored personnel carriers was handed over to the customer. Saxon is used as command and staff and evacuation vehicles.
The Saxon armored personnel carrier was developed in the 1970s on the basis of the AT104 police armored car. At the heart of the APC is the Bedfort MK truck. The car received steel armor, which provides protection from small arms bullets.
Earlier, Sky News journalist Deborah Hines named the models of armored vehicles that Britain decided to supply to Ukraine. The British side will hand over Mastiff, Wolfhound and Husky TSV armored vehicles.
In March, the head of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), Sebastian Hvalek, announced that in 2022 the Polish military could receive the first batch of Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles.
