Rossiyskaya Gazeta called Ukrainian tanks hopelessly outdated
The technical characteristics of Ukrainian tanks correspond to the characteristics of the 1980s, and most of the equipment has not undergone major repairs. The publication of the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" called outdated Ukrainian tanks.
The publication says that the main tank of the Ukrainian military remains the T-64BV. The upgraded versions have received dynamic protection, which cannot withstand modern means of destruction. The basic model of the car was adopted in 1976.
Also in 2017, the T-64BV fleet was partially modified. More than 200 tanks were equipped with "Knife" dynamic protection units and a thermal imager. In addition to the 2017 modification, Ukraine has T-64B1 tanks developed for African customers and T-64BM2 with a new engine. The T-64 family of tanks is complemented by the T-72AV, T-72B1 and Soviet T-80BV vehicles with gas turbine engines. There are also about 500 tanks of various modifications in the storage bases. The publication suggested that these tanks are hopelessly outdated and cannot be restored.
In February, the Ukrainian military used the upgraded T-64BM2 in exercises. The tanks were equipped with a new 1000 horsepower engine.
In September 2021, a Twitter user posted a picture of the Soviet tank Object 476 "Cedar".
