An unknown Soviet tank with a 152-mm cannon lit up on the Net

Photos of the layout of an unknown Soviet tank with particularly powerful weapons first appeared on the Web. These images are not accompanied by any comments, so there is currently an active discussion of the details of the design of this combat vehicle among experts and fans of the domestic tank building.

Everyone paid attention to the impressive size and characteristic shape of the gun barrel - everything suggests that we have a Soviet 152-mm LP-83 cannon in front of us. It was installed on a promising Object 477 "Hammer" created in the 80s in Kharkov, which was considered as the main battle tank of the Soviet Army.

Also, this gun was tested at the Leningrad Facility 292 - a deeply modernized representative of the T-80 family with gas turbine engines.

Interestingly, the presented sample is also made on the basis of the "eightieth" and, unlike other equipment of the new generation, which had a chassis with seven support rollers on each side, there are six of them here.

The power plant can be either with a GTD or with a diesel engine. In those years, the creation of a motor-transmission compartment was discussed, where both types of engines could be easily installed.

The upper frontal part of the body resembles the one that was used on Object 480, which was never embodied in metal, but without the so-called "decollete" - a weakened zone in the area of the location of the driver.

The tower is of a new shape, most likely welded, has a niche where, apparently, parts of an automated loading system and part of the ammunition are installed.

Attention is drawn to the sensors that record the laser radiation of the optical-electronic suppression complex "Curtain".

The commander has a panoramic sight, similar to what was tested on the "Hammer", as well as the latter, a paired machine gun is installed. That is, apparently, a sample was lit up, in which they decided to apply all the available Leningrad and Kharkov developments.
