Makhachkala. February 22. INTERFAX-SOUTH - The underwater special forces of the Caspian Flotilla destroyed a sabotage and reconnaissance group at the base of the ships in Dagestan, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.
"The servicemen of the special detachment for combating underwater sabotage forces and means of the Caspian Flotilla destroyed a sabotage and reconnaissance group of a conditional enemy as part of a planned exercise in Dagestan," the report says.
It is noted that the exercise took place in the Caspian Sea near the base of the flotilla ships.
As part of the exercises, the crew of the anti-sabotage boat "Yunarmeets Dagestan" of the "Grachonok" type, equipped with a modern sonar station, discovered a group of saboteurs of a conditional enemy.
The unit was divided into groups, each of which had to detect saboteurs secretly moving underwater to the shore to mine ships. The exercises were complicated by the fact that the PDSS detachment had to be at a distance of 150-200 m from the coastline. The role of saboteurs was performed by ship's light divers, they were allowed to use any tactics under water.
