The ships will perform rocket and artillery firing
Moscow. February 17. INTERFAX - 20 ships of the Caspian flotilla have begun exercises in the Caspian Sea, the press service of the Southern Military District reported.
"In total, the crews of about 20 warships of the flotilla take part in the naval command and staff exercise, including the Dagestan missile ship, the small rocket ships Grad Sviyazhsk, Uglich, Veliky Ustyug, Makhachkala, Astrakhan, Stupinets, small artillery ships, base minesweepers, boats, as well as support vessels," the message says.
According to the press service, "in the near future, the naval tactical groups of the flotilla will have to work out joint actions on sailing in a single marching order, repelling the means of an air attack of a conditional enemy and conducting a training naval battle, as well as perform practical rocket and artillery firing."
The flotilla forces will also work out mine deployment, as well as the search and destruction of mines "with the execution of live firing from standard weapons."
In accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, a series of naval exercises is being held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.
The main focus of the exercises is to work out the actions of the Navy and VKS forces to protect Russian national interests in the world Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean.
