The Russian Defense Ministry has published the first pictures of the Tu-22M3 bomber with the X-32 missile
The Russian Ministry of Defense has published the first pictures of long-range Tu-22M3 bombers with new weapons. The planes in the image are equipped with a new X-32 missile, reports Telegram channel bmpd.
The planes were captured at the Khmeimim airbase in Syria during an inspection by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. The new missile was spotted on the outer suspension of long-range bombers. The publication suggested that these are the first pictures of the new X-32 rocket.
The X-32 missile was developed on the basis of the Soviet X-22. She received a new engine, and a reduced warhead allowed her to increase the fuel reserve and flight range of the X-32. The ammunition was also equipped with an automatic control system and a new guidance system. It is believed that the launch range of the rocket is 1000 kilometers.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the transfer of Tu-22M3 and MiG-31K aircraft with the Dagger aviation complex to the Khmeimim airbase.
In February 2021, a source in the military-industrial complex told about the tests of a new missile. He noted that the Tu-22M3 made several launches of X-32 missiles, which confirmed the characteristics of the munition.
In May 2021, The Drive edition assessed the danger of the Russian Tu-22M3 for British and American carrier strike groups.
