Germany will transfer PzH 2000 howitzers and armored vehicles to Lithuania
The German Armed Forces will strengthen the combined NATO battalion in Lithuania. The Bundeswehr will send additional military personnel, armored personnel carriers and self-propelled howitzers to the country. This is reported by Defence24.
The Bundeswehr will transfer to Lithuania six self-propelled artillery units (self-propelled guns) PzH 2000 caliber 155 millimeters. The military contingent will also be reinforced with Fuchs armored personnel carriers, Fennek reconnaissance armored vehicles and special equipment. The consolidated NATO battalion will include about 90 pieces of equipment.
The publication notes that the German contingent will include armored vehicles crews, military police units and intelligence officers.
Earlier it became known about the decision of the German government to send an additional contingent of military personnel to Lithuania. About 350 soldiers and officers will arrive in the country.
The PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery system was developed in 2000. The car received a 155 mm caliber gun with a 52-caliber barrel length (8.06 meters).
In November, the head of the missile forces and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveevsky, announced that the Russian self-propelled gun "Coalition-SV" will receive smart ammunition.
