SIMFEROPOL, February 15 - RIA Novosti. Su-24 bombers and Su-27 fighters of the Black Sea Fleet naval aviation bombed a simulated enemy landing party during exercises for the defense of the Crimea, the information support department of the Black Sea Fleet reported.
"During the exercise on the defense of the Crimean Peninsula, the bases of the Black Sea Fleet forces and areas of maritime economic activity from possible military threats, the Black Sea Fleet's naval aviation worked out the search and destruction of a landing party of ships of a conditional enemy," the message says.
During the reconnaissance, the Outpost and Orlan drones detected an amphibious detachment of ships of a conditional enemy at sea and transmitted target designation to Su-24 and Su-27 aircraft, which then bombed sea targets. They also had to work out overcoming the enemy ships' air defenses.
The enemy detachment was imitated by large landing ships and missile boats of the Black Sea Fleet.
Earlier it was reported that more than 30 warships of the Black Sea Fleet left their bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk to work out the defense of the sea coast of the Crimean Peninsula, sea communications, areas of maritime economic activity and objects of the economic sector. The maneuvers are held in preparation for naval exercises under the general direction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.
In accordance with the training plan of the Russian Armed Forces for 2022, a series of naval exercises are held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. In total, it is planned to involve more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel.
