The Italians launched the Giovanni delle Bande Nere Pattugliatore Polivalente d'altura (PPA) type ship. He became the fourth representative of this project and the first in an improved version.
On February 12th, the launch of the new multipurpose marine patrol ship Giovanni delle Bande Nere took place at the shipyard of the Fincantieri shipbuilding enterprise in Riva Trigoso.
This PPA should be delivered in 2024. He became the first representative of the project to receive a full package. The improvements relate to the protection of the ship, as well as its equipment with generator sets from Isotta Fraschini Motori, a subsidiary of Fincantieri.
Pattugliatore Polivalente d'altura is one of the latest developments of the Italian military-industrial complex. The first such ship, Paolo Thaon di Revel, was commissioned last year. The PPA are designed to replace Soldati-type frigates and Minerva-type corvettes.
Earlier, we recall, Russian developers presented the appearance of a promising diving ship. It will be armed with a small-caliber automatic cannon, two launchers for guided missiles and four torpedo tubes of 324 mm caliber. It is assumed that the ship will be of interest to foreign customers.
