TASS, February 12. Il-38 aircraft of the Naval Aviation of the Pacific Fleet (TOF) carried out the laying of minefields during the exercises. This was reported to journalists in the press service of the fleet.
"The Il-38 and Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet conducted the laying of minefields during an exercise in the Avacha Bay," the navy said.
It is noted that in a given area, anti-submarine aircraft carried out the laying of minefields on the routes of possible deployment of ships and the actions of submarines of a conditional enemy.
The navy clarified that three Il-38 and one Il-38N anti-submarine aircraft were involved in working out a joint search for a "foreign" submarine. The role of submarines of the conditional enemy was performed by submarines of the Pacific Fleet.
The press service recalled that in accordance with the training plan of the armed forces of the Russian Federation for 2022, a series of naval exercises is being held in January-February in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the overall leadership of the Commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. In total, over 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1 thousand units of military equipment, and about 10 thousand military personnel are involved in the events.
