Rostov-on-Don. February 12. INTERFAX-SOUTH - Battalion tactical groups of the military base of the Southern Military District in Abkhazia arrived at the Tsabal mountain range to participate in a planned live-fire exercise, the press service of the Southern Military District reports.
"In total, about 1.5 thousand military personnel of the Southern Military District take part in the exercise, about 200 units of military equipment are involved," the report says.
It is reported that at the training ground, battalion commanders organized the management of the battle by subordinates and attached units, and at the stage of combat shooting, motorized infantry hit targets using armament of armored personnel carriers BTR-82A and regular small arms, including RPG-7D and AGS-17 grenade launchers.
It is noted that the main purpose of the bilateral battalion tactical exercise is to check the readiness of motorized rifle units of the Southern Military District to perform combat tasks, to improve their combat coherence in the preparation and conduct of defensive actions, as well as to train the command staff to make non-standard decisions during combat missions using modern combat experience.
