MiG-31BM high-altitude interceptor fighters of the Aviation Division of the Central Military District (CVO) worked out counteraction and intercepted about 30 supersonic reconnaissance aircraft of a conditional enemy during exercises that ended in the Perm Territory, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions. This is stated in a message distributed on Friday by the press service of the district.
"The crews of two MiG-31BM units as part of combat pairs worked out group patrolling of the airspace. Four groups of fighter-interceptors organized a search for reconnaissance aircraft of the "enemy" in the entire range of heights, acting in a single radar field," the report says.
It is noted that the MiG-31BM pilots covered important military, industrial and administrative facilities in three regions of Russia. The MiG-31BM on duty prevented a breakthrough into the protected airspace of the simulated enemy reconnaissance aircraft operating at speeds of more than 1,300 km/h and altitudes from 100 to 12,000 m.
In addition, the crews of the MiG-31BM organized the exchange of radar information with ground-based air defense (air defense) to make a decision on the conditional destruction of "violators" - reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR.
The crews of the aviation regiments of the Central Military District in the Perm Region and the Chelyabinsk Region, 13 MiG-31BM interceptor fighters and Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft were involved in the tactical flight exercises of two types of aircraft. In total, more than 500 military personnel were involved from among the combat crews of the Nebo-M radar stations, S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems, flight, engineering and technical personnel, as well as flight control and support groups.
