MOSCOW, Feb 10 - RIA Novosti. Six large amphibious ships of the Northern and Baltic fleets, including the newest "Peter Morgunov", entered the naval base of Sevastopol after a long hike, the press service of the Black Sea Fleet (Black Sea Fleet) told reporters.
"A detachment of large amphibious ships of the Russian Navy consisting of Korolev, Minsk, Kaliningrad, Pyotr Morgunov, George the Victorious and Olenegorsky Miner completed the inter-fleet crossing around Europe. At the moment, the ships are entering the main base of the Black Sea Fleet – the city of Sevastopol," the press service said.
The landing ships of project 775 "Korolev", "Minsk" and "Kaliningrad" are part of the Baltic Fleet, the ships of project 775 "George the Victorious", "Olenegorsky Miner" and the ship of project 11711 "Peter Morgunov" are part of the Northern Fleet.
In Sevastopol, the crews of the paratroopers will conduct a post-arrival inspection, replenish fuel, water and food supplies and rest. During the campaign, the detachment has already overcome about 7000 nautical miles. Earlier, six BDK entered the logistics point of the Russian Navy in the Syrian port of Tartus.
"In the near future, a detachment of large amphibious ships of the Russian Navy will have to continue performing tasks in accordance with the combat training plan," the Black Sea Fleet added.
In January-February, a series of naval exercises is held in all areas of responsibility of the fleets under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Nikolai Evmenov. The main focus of the exercises is to work out actions to protect Russian national interests in the World Ocean, as well as to counter military threats from sea and ocean directions.
The exercises cover the waters of the seas surrounding Russia, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the northeastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean. In total, more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment, and about 10,000 military personnel were involved in the maneuvers.
