The Ukrainian 92nd separate mechanized brigade is stationed in the village of Klugino-Bashkirovka of the Chuguevsky City Council of the Kharkiv region. It is considered one of the most equipped in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons.
For example, it is armed not only with the old BTR-70 or BTR-80, but also with the more heavily armed BTR-4, known to have 30 mm guns and anti-tank tandem guided missiles "Barrier" with laser guidance.
Also, this compound received the T-64BM2 main battle tanks, shown for the first time last year at the parade in Kiev, which, according to Ukrainian experts, are the newest version in the sixty-fourth family.
Compared to the Bulat BM and T-64BV of the 2017 model, the main difference is the installation of a 1000-horsepower 6TD-1 engine. The specialists who carried out such modernization consider it a great achievement, however, in fact, they only repeated what was done in the Soviet Union back in the 70s. However, the roof of the engine and transmission compartment became higher, and the developers took an unusual step for tank construction: in order for the tower to retain circular rotation, it had to be raised to a certain height with the help of a special ring. Of course, there is an additional reservation, but how this will affect survivability is unclear.
The gunner received a thermal imager, other crew members received non-illuminated infrared devices with 3rd generation electron-optical converters. New means of communication and orientation have been introduced. Protection is enhanced due to the active elements of the "Knife". As a result, the weight increased to 45,000 kg.
It is expected that another batch of tanks may be upgraded in this way, but there is no data on when it will arrive to the troops yet.
