The press service of the Northern Fleet reported that a detachment of SF ships passed the Strait of Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea. This detachment includes the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, the frigate Admiral Kasatonov and the large anti-submarine ship Vice Admiral Kulakov.
The North Sea men went on a long march under the flag of the commander of the division of rocket ships, Captain 1st rank Igor Nikitin. The crews of the ships will soon have to perform tasks at an inter-fleet exercise together with the sailors of the Black Sea and Pacific fleets of Russia.
The press service recalled that at the first stage of the campaign, the ships of the Northern Fleet were involved in a large-scale exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group. The maneuvers were then led by the commander of the SF Admiral Alexander Moiseev.
The admirals made up equally busy schedules of combat training for other ships of the Russian Navy. Here is what Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said about this: "In January - February, a series of naval exercises are held in all areas of responsibility of fleets. The actions of the Navy and Aerospace Forces to protect national interests in the oceans and to repel military threats from sea and ocean directions are being worked out. In total, more than 140 warships and support vessels, more than 60 aircraft are involved in the exercises."
It is known that these exercises were organized in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for 2022. They are conducted under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, and will cover the waters of the seas adjacent to the territory of our country, as well as operationally important areas of the World Ocean. Separate exercises will be held in the waters of the Mediterranean, Northern, Okhotsk Seas, in the north-eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.
In addition to ships, support vessels and aircraft, they will attract a lot of personnel and a very solid arsenal. More precisely, about 10 thousand military personnel and a thousand units of military equipment.
